Everyone has their own lil’ routine to set them up for the day- and I’m no different. I’ve always had a morning routine and I do try to stick to it as best as I can (night time routines are a whole different ball game). I love reading other people’s morning routines and gaining some inspiration from them, so I’m gonna write up my own
9:30am– I hate sleeping late and although some wouldn’t consider 9am particularly early, I used to get up at 7 o’clock every single day regardless of whether I was doing something important that day or just lounging around the house, so 9am is a lie in for me. I use the ‘bedtime’ feature on my iPhone which notifies you when it’s time to go to sleep and automatically sets an alarm so you get your full 8 hours of sleep each night. I never jump out of bed the moment I open my eyes. I have far too much social media to catch up on in the morning, so I usually spend the next 30 minutes scrolling through Twitter and Instagram.
10:00am– By this time I’ve read every tweet and liked every photo that I missed while I was getting my beauty sleep and I’m usually ready to get up and tackle the day. The first thing I do when I get out of bed is make it. This ensures that when I return from the bathroom there is no chance of me climbing back into it and getting a few more hours shut-eye. I always do a small tidy-up of my bedroom in the morning (although it’s never really messy so this takes about 2 minutes) and open all of the curtains and blinds and the window to let in some fresh air.
10:15am– After pottering about my bedroom and getting all my affairs in order there, I head to the bathroom to sort myself out. You know how it goes: obligatory morning pee, wash hands, wash face, brush teeth and freshen up. Depending on what day it is I might have to shower and wash my hair, but I have a strict schedule for washing my hair and try my hardest to keep to it.
10:30am– The first thing I do when I get downstairs is feed my goldfish and feed my dog, Noodles. My Mammy and Daddy work early so they don’t bother feeding him before they leave. Then I have to feed myself and before I even think about eating anything, I drink a full bottle of water. I’ve always been crappy at staying hydrated and drinking my recommended amount of water each day, so this ensures that I at least drink some water in the day. Then I move on to making my breakfast, which usually consists of Weetabix and honey or some form of toast and a cuppa (I’m obsessed with cups of tea).
11:00am– Once I’ve finished eating I usually start on the housework and clean up the bits and pieces that were left sitting around from the night before. I’ll usually do the dishes, clean out any dishes that were in the dishwasher, do some laundry, clean the work surfaces and we normally have to hoover the floor as Noodles casts hairs like nobody’s business.
11:30am– When I’ve cleaned everything that I can and the house is looking more presentable, I’ll water any of my plant babies that need a wee drink and then pop on my wellington boots and feed the chickens and collect any eggs they have left for me. This usually takes me up to 12 o’clock and the morning is then well and truly gone. The rest of my day could consist of a load of random stuff (eating, watching Netflix, walking the dog etc.).
