Unwinding this Autumn

Hello Everybody!

Autumn is one of the most, if not, the most peaceful time of the year. It’s cosy inside and cold outside, the fire is lit (although mines is lit all year round!) and the colours are vibrant and tranquil. This is why Autumn is my favourite time of the year. It’s relaxing! So, I’m going to share some of my favourite things to do to unwind and relax this Autumn.Get an aroma going. There is honestly nothing nicer than walking into a room and getting a great big whiff of a burning candle. I am absolutely in love with my Yankee Candle wax burner. It’s ever so handy as all you need is a tea light candle and your desired scent and boom! The room suddenly smells like a dream.

Have some laptop time. I mean c’mon, laptop time is the best time. I love nothing more than sitting down and getting caught up on my YouTube videos, reading blogs and possibly doing more online shopping than I should (but hey, treat yo’self, imma right?).

Curl up with a good book. If you’re anything like me, then you are one of those people that can simply get lost in a book. It could be hours before I come up for air once I get my hands on a really good read. Autumn nights spent in with a blanket and a good book sound far more appealing to me than a night out on the town. I’m currently reading The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien and I’m loving it. I grew up watching the movies but never actually read the books. It’s nice to imagine it in  my own way, rather than seeing the whole thing through someone else’s eyes.

  1. Get creative. Soooo many people have soooo many amazing talents and skills and I’m constantly being surprised by how many cool things people can do! Me? Well, I’m a bit of a potato… can’t do much and don’t have any extraordinary hidden talents (that I know of anyway). However, my sweet, old Granny taught me how to knit a few years ago and I consider this to be a pretty special skill (for a potato). On a really cold night, I like to wrap myself up in my bed and knit, maybe I’ll listen to some music or watch a lil’ bit of TV while I do it. This is soo relaxing and therapeutic, I would recommend to anyone who hasn’t tried it before, take up knitting. Your mind will thank you!

Get settled with a mug of something hot. Ahhh. There is nothing like a hot beverage on a cold Autumn night, is there? Personally, I love tea (am I confirming the stereotype that all Irish people love tea? Probably). I take my tea with 2 sugars and milk and maybe a sneaky lil’ biscuit or two. Tea is like receiving a hug on the inside, it’s basically a cup of love and, honestly, there is nothing better in the world.

These are just some of the things I do to relax after a long day of battling the cold weather, but there are plenty more things you could do if none of these tickle your fancy.

As a lil’ side note, I have decided that I will be uploading a new post every Sunday (Sundays are my favourite day of the week, so why not make it even better with a blog post?) so stay tuned for more posts and whatnot!

What do you do to chill out during the Autumn months? What’s your favourite hot beverage?

Until next time…

C.
